A Ten-Page Story to Read and Color
Omari is eight, and he's the proudest big brother on the block. His little sister Zara can crawl like a rocket — but walking? That's a whole other adventure. From her first wobbly stand at the coffee table to the morning she lets go and really walks, Omari is right there: holding her hands, lining up his teddy bears as the audience, and catching her every time she plops. Ten rhyming pages about patience, cheering each other on, and the day the whole house rang with WOW.

Omari was eight and the proudest big brother;
no kid had a sister like Zara — no other!
She crawled like a rocket across the front room,
and Omari would shout, “Here she comes! Make some room!”

1
Then one Tuesday morning she grabbed the chair tight,
and pulled herself up with all of her might.
She stood there and wobbled, legs shaking like jelly —
the whole family froze from the kitchen to the telly.

2
“I've got you,” said Omari, and held both her hands,
and walked her real slow, like the best of friends.
“Step, step,” he whispered, “you're doing just fine —
you're walking, my sister, right here next to mine.”

3
She cruised round the couch like a ship round the shore,
one hand on the cushions, her eyes on the floor.
Then farther and farther each day she would glide,
with Omari cheering and walking beside.

4
One evening at dinner — well, right after peas —
she let go of the table, as bold as you please.
One step! Then she plopped down right onto her seat,
and everybody cheered for that one little feat!

5
Omari lined up all his bears in a row —
“The crowd is all ready, so let's start the show!”
He knelt at one end with his arms open wide:
“Walk to me, Zara! I'm right on your side!”

6
She tumbled, she toppled, she sat with a plop,
but grinning, got up — you just can't make her stop!
“Good fall!” Omari laughed. “Now get up and try —
all champions wobble before they can fly!”

7
Then one golden morning, with sun on the floor,
she let go — one, two, THREE steps! — then one more!
She walked, really walked, into Omari's arms,
and Mama yelled “WOW!” and Daddy sounded alarms.

8
They called up Grandma and held up the phone,
so Zara could show off a walk of her own.
Grandma clapped loud from the screen: “Watch her go!”
and Zara just grinned with her whole face aglow.

9
Now Zara goes walking all over the town,
with Omari beside her in case she falls down.
Big sisters and brothers help little ones fly —
so tell me: who will YOU teach to reach for the sky?
